The Other Side of Writing

When I originally started writing here, it was more an outlet for thoughts and the like – usually responses to people’s questions posted on Facebook, or monologues sparked by conversations – and, perhaps naturally, I haven’t written here as often as I thought I would.

From when I was young, my interests in writing were never quite journalistic. While there’s a thrill in reporting back on a day’s events, the changing reality of today’s news and social landscape requires a different kind of writing, one I never quite grasped. So instead of force myself to write on today’s issues here – drowning my voice in a sea of the likeminded, taking to the internet in a grasp for personal relevance – I’ll take another avenue from time to time.

I enjoy creative writing, and while that won’t make the blog unique, the stories themselves (hopefully) will be. I’ll be posting what I consider the programmer’s equivalent of “Alpha” and “Beta” writing – eventual finished products might be compiled and put on the Kindle or something similar at some point.

I’ll likely experiment with short stories, and perhaps serial novel-type writing, depending on my time, interest, and the alignment of the planets and all. Take a taste of the other side of writing. Let me know what you think!
